Bulletin for July/August 1998

Community Prayer Meetings: We meet every Sunday from 5 to 6:30pm at the Warm Springs Community Center for our weekly gatherings. Our last Prayer Meeting before our August Break will be on July 26th. We are scheduled to celebrate Mass together here at the Warm Springs Community Center on July 26th. Reminder that there will be no prayer meetings in August. However, we encourage people to gather for fellowship and social activities during our break. Prayer meetings will resume on September 13th.

Growing in Faith: Our current teaching is on Learning About Discerning God's Will. Pray that all of us will continue to prayerfully study this community teaching.

MSJC Retreat: MSJC Community Retreat is October 9-11 at Mount Alverno in Redwood City. Guest speakers are Dr. and Mrs. John and Clare Grabowski from the Mother of God Community. John is also a theology professor at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. Our own Father Gerard will also be speaking. The weekend begins with dinner on Friday and goes through 3:00 p.m. Sunday. The cost is $120.00 per person. (However, DO NOT let finances keep you away, if that is an issue!) You can sign up by leaving a $40.00 per person deposit with Craig. Checks should be made out to "Mission San Jose Community." (The balance is due the weekend of the retreat.) Children's Ministry Mandatory Meeting: There will be a MSJC Children's Ministry Meeting for parents and volunteers on Wednesday, July 8th at 7:30 p.m. at the Fremont Library, 2400 Stevenson Blvd. This is a mandatory meeting for parents who have children in children's ministry or the toddler room. Besides being a time for your input and questions, we will also be going over important new details about this ministry. Any questions, please call Susan Kingsley.

Men's Breakfast: NEW DATE/LOCATION This month's Men's Breakfast is at 7:30am on July 18th (Third Saturday), at the Omega Restaurant in Milpitas. Invite other men and join us! Directions to the restaurant follow: 680 to Calaveras, go east, right on South Park Victoria and Omega's is on the left hand side, 90 South Park Victoria, Milpitas (408) 946-8748. Women's Fellowship: NEW LOCATION/MEETING TIME! Join us on Saturday, July 25th from 9am to 11am at Omega Restaurant in Milpitas. You can order breakfast. Bring a friend! The topic will be a Personal Testimony. Directions: 680 to Calaveras, go east, right on South Park Victoria and Omega's is on the left hand side, 90 South Park Victoria, Milpitas (408) 946-8748. For any questions, please call Judy Bateman. No meeting in August due to break.

Camping Trip: Our annual MSJC camping trip is August 14th-17th to Pinecrest Lake near Dodge Ridge and is full at this time. Gloria Lorelli has volunteered to coordinate getting some information out to the people signed up for the trip, such as directions, what items will be needed for some common meals and other campground info and rules. These details will be provided later this month. We look forward to a great time on the lake where we will have fun and fellowship together.

Donations: Mission San Jose Community has tax-exempt status with both the Federal and State governments. Tax-deductible contributions can be given to Chris or Susan Kingsley. A quarterly financial report is available to anyone.
