Bulletin for July/August 2004

Community Prayer Meetings at Holy Family Parish in San Jose: Our weekly prayer and praise meetings will be every Sunday from 4 to 5:30pm at Holy Family Catholic Parish in San Jose (4848 Pearl Avenue). As always, these prayer meetings are open to anyone who would like to join us in praising GOD and learning more about MSJC.

Prayer meeting will be in Youth Hall from June 27th thru July 25th: Due to Community Inns, a rotating homeless shelter, using the Community Center, The Prayer meetings from June 27th thru July 25th will be in the Holy Family Youth Hall - the smaller building to the right of the Community Center.

MSJC Pizza Night: MSJC will be hosting a free pizza dinner after the prayer meeting on Sun. July 25. This is an opportunity for fellowship and also for you to invite someone new. We will have signups to bring salad, soda and desserts on Sun. July 18th.

Holy Family Parking Lot Reconstruction this summer On June 27th and for the rest of July, there will be limited parking because of the church parking lot reconstruction. Additional parking will be available at Erikson school across the street or in the neighborhoods nearby. Please add 15 minutes to your time to get to the prayers meetings because of this parking situation.

NO Prayer meetings in the month of August because of our annual summer break: There will be no Sunday afternoon prayer meetings in August or Labor Day weekend. After July, the next prayer meeting will be Sunday, Sept. 12th at our usual time 4 p.m.

MSJC annual picnic on Saturday, August 28th : MSJC will be having their annual summer picnic at Emma Prusch Farm park on Saturday, August 28th starting at 10 AM and going until 5 pm. Bring a side dish and drinks to share and also toys and play equipment like frisbees and such. MSJC will provide the hamburgers and hot dogs. We are reserving the Rose Garden picnic area again. There is a big grass area to play on and also a little farm with animals. Free parking is available. However, no alcohol is permitted in the park. We are still looking for coordinators for this event, please contact Gary Herbst or Dan Franke if you are interested in doing that. It is mostly just coordinating to make sure all the BBQ stuff gets to the picnic and purchasing paper goods (you will be reimbursed by MSJC). Emma Prusch is located right off of I-680 at King Road (647 South King Road).

Children's Ministry: MSJC offers our children a time to learn about the Lord under our Children's Ministry for Toddlers

(ages 6 mos to 4 years) and School Age Children (5 yrs to 12 yrs). The toddlers will be in the Parish Nursery Room, while the School Age Children will be next door to them in the Conference Room. For info on this ministry, please pick up a Parent info sheet and Conduct Guidelines in the Children Ministry rooms. If you have any questions or comments, please call our Children's Ministry coordinator, Annie Esget. We use the Catholic Kids Net program for School Age children. MSJC has both parent volunteers and baby sitters for the Toddler Ministry - parents sign up as toddler assistants to help out baby sitters when needed. The School Age Ministry has parent volunteers. All Children Ministry volunteers must be fingerprinted due to a requirement of the Diocese of San Jose. Please contact Colleen Murphy at Holy Family (408-265-3181) to set up an appointment to do that.

Mark your calendars: The Catholic Family Life Conference is in Anaheim again this year on Aug. 21 - 22. You can sign up for the conference online at www.catholicresourcecenter.org or call 877-526-2151. For more information, please talk to the Batemans.

Prayers/Prayer Line Info: Anne Hashimoto is our volunteer for the Prayer Line Ministry. Please send her your prayer request by email. To be part of the Email Prayer Line, please tell her or send her your email address and she will add you to our Prayer Line email list.

MSJC Council Meetings: The MSJC Council meets the first Monday of every month to discuss MSJC activities and other business items. The current council members are John Colon, Dan Franke and Gary Herbst. Please contact one of the council members for more information on meetings or location.
