Bulletin for June/July 2005

Community Prayer Meetings at Holy Family Parish in San Jose: Our weekly prayer and praise meetings will be every Sunday from 3:30 to 5:00pm at Holy Family Catholic Parish in San Jose (4848 Pearl Avenue) in the Community Center. As always, these prayer meetings are open to anyone who would like to join us in praising GOD and learning more about MSJC.

Community Meeting : MSJC will have a community meeting on Sat. June 18th at 6:30 pm. The meeting will be at the Bateman home, please ask Eric or Judy Bateman for directions if you would like to come. All are welcome.

No Prayer Meeting on Sun. June 19th :  No prayer meeting on Sunday, June 19th due to Father’s Day.   Praise the Lord for Fathers, especially our Holy Father the Pope.

Prayer Meeting will be in the Holy Family Youth Hall on June 26th: The prayer meeting on Sunday, June 26th will be in the Holy Family Youth Hall instead of the Community Center. The Youth Hall is in the the building next to the Community Center.

There will be no Prayer Meetings from July 3rd through July 24th due to the MSJC summer break.  It is a month early this year since Holy Family hosts the Community Inn homeless shelter for the month of July in the Community Center and it is unavailable to groups at that time, so we decided to take July off and then have meetings in August in the Community Center.   We will start meeting again on Sunday, August 7st  in the Community Center at 3:30 p.m.

The annual MSJC picnic is Sat. July 9th at Emma Prusch Farm Park.  MSJC will be having their annual summer picnic at Emma Prusch Farm park on Saturday, July 9th starting at 10 AM and going until 5 pm. Bring a side dish and drinks to share and also toys and play equipment like frisbees and such. MSJC will provide the meat, probably hamburgers and hot dogs. We are reserving the Rose Garden picnic area again. There is a big grass area to play on and also a little farm with animals. Free parking is available. However, no alcohol is permitted in the park, also no balloons either please.   Please contact the council for more information if you would like to help out coordinating this event.   Emma Prusch is located right off of I-680 at King Road (647 South King Road).

Children's Ministry: MSJC offers our children a time to learn about the Lord under our Children's Ministry for Toddlers (ages 6 mos to 4 years) and School Age Children (5 yrs to 12 yrs). For info on this ministry, please pick up a Parent info sheet and Conduct Guidelines in the Children Ministry rooms. If you have any questions or comments, please call our Children's Ministry coordinator, Annie Esget, at (408) 258-6757. We use the Catholic Kids Net program for School Age children. MSJC has baby sitters for the Toddler Ministry.  The School Age Ministry has parent volunteers. All Children Ministry volunteers must be fingerprinted due to a requirement of the Diocese of San Jose and a new requirement is that a diocesan class is also required. Please contact Colleen Murphy at Holy Family (408-265-3181) to set up an appointment to do that.

Mark your calendarsThe National Catholic Family Conference is scheduled for July 23 and 24 at the Anaheim Convention Center near Disneyland. There will be great speakers and a lot of Catholics.

Prayers/Prayer Line Info: Anne Hashimoto is our volunteer for the Prayer Line Ministry. Please send her your prayer request by email. To be part of the Email Prayer Line, please tell her or send her your email address at ahashimo@juno.com and she will add you to our Prayer Line email list.

MSJC Council Meetings: The MSJC Council meets monthly to discuss MSJC activities and other business items. The MSJC council members are Annie Esget, Gary Herbst and Sylvia Lobo.  Please contact one of the council members for more information on meetings or location.
