Mission San Jose Community

Bulletin for APRIL 2000

Community Prayer Meetings: We meet every Sunday from 5 to 6:30pm at the Warm Springs Community Center for our weekly gatherings of Prayer and Praise. These meetings are open to everyone, so please invite others to attend. Remember that information about MSJC and the California Mission Magazine is also available on the Web at HTTP://WWW.MSJC.ORG

Growing In Faith Teachings: MSJC has begun the new year with the Growing in Faith Teachings which continue until June 4th. The following is the schedule for April and May: April 2nd and 9th - The Bible, part 1 and 2 and April 30th and May 7th - Prayer, part 1 and 2. A complete schedule is available after the prayer meeting.

EASTER Sunday: We will not have a prayer meeting on Easter Sunday, April 23rd. Celebrate the Risen Lord with your friends and family.

NCCCC: There will be no prayer meeting on May 28th due to the Northern California Catholic Charismatic Conference (NCCCC) at the Santa Clara Convention Center that weekend. Registration flyers are available at the MSJC prayer meetings. You will need to mail your form in before April 30th to receive the discounted registration fee.

Men's Breakfast and Women's Fellowship Meetings: There will be no Men's or Women's Breakfast meetings this month due to a fire at the Omega Restaurant last month. Keep the owners in your prayers. They hope to reopen in a few months.

Pizza Nites: The next MSJC Pizza Nite is scheduled for Sunday, Apr. 30th. MSJC provides the pizza after the regular Sunday prayer meeting and requests that you sign-up to bring other needed items such as paper goods and sodas. Sign-up by Apr. 16th or call Judy Bateman.

Children's Ministry: MSJC offers our children a time to learn about the Lord under our Children's Ministry for Toddlers and School Age Children. For info on this ministry you can call Susan Kingsley. Thank you to those who have volunteered for this important ministry to our MSJC children:

Important Children's Ministry Information: During the weeks of April 9-30, we will run a "trial" program in which children's ministry will start at 5pm instead of 5:30pm. Children will then return to the meeting after the announcements/before the last song, at 6:30pm. There will be no dismissal time at 5pm. Bring your children directly to the toddler room (ages 1-4) or the school age room (ages 5 and up) between 4:55pm and 5:00pm. Children's Ministry Volunteers, please be in your respective room by 4:45pm.

PARENTS: Please read.....Children should be fed (we only offer a small snack) and rested before coming to children's ministry. This is especially important as 5-6:30 is sometimes a difficult time of day for young ones and we will now have them for a longer time frame. As a reminder, children who are disruptive or inconsolable will be brought back to their parents in the prayer meeting. We want this to be a positive experience for the children and the adults, so please be mindful of giving your children time to rest before coming to the prayer meeting/children's ministry. School age children need to use the restroom before coming to children's ministry.

We will be asking for input from both parents and volunteers during this "trial" program. Please feel free to contact Susan Kingsley or Elizabeth Martinez with your comments or questions.

MSJC Community Meeting: The next MSJC Community meeting will be held in the Community Room of the Milpitas Library, 40 N. Milpitas Blvd., on Saturday, May 6th from 6:30pm - 9:30pm. The room is accessible from the parking lot next to the library. All are invited to attend.

Family Camp: Plan ahead for Family Camp on August 20 - 24th at beautiful Redwood Christian Camp in Boulder Creek, just an hour away from the Bay Area. Check out their website at www.redwoodcp.org Families on a pre-compiled list from last fall need to turn in a $100.00 deposit by June 1st to hold your spot! Make check payable to MSJC and turn in to Judy Bateman who will confirm your cabin assignment. Space is limited. Any spaces left open after June 1st will be made available to other families.

MSJC Council Meetings: The MSJC Council meets the first Wednesday of every month to discuss MSJC activities and other business items. Please contact one of the council members for more information on meetings or location.
